8/31 Get your copy of the Anatomy textbook.  Write your first and last name on the inside cover in ink.  Sign the textbook inventory sheet.  
  Intro to www.time4science.com .  This is the site that has all the information you need to know concerning this class.  Policies, assignment calendar, supplies, etc.  
  Read the Lab Safety Contract carefully and return with all information and required signatures.  
  Review lab equipment list.  Know the names and functions of each piece.  
  Assemble your lab notebook using the folder provided by your teacher.  Please include the safety rules and equipment lists at the front of the folder.  
  Review Activity:  What's My Name?  and click on the link to play the matching game.  See if you know the names of all the pieces of equipment shown.  If you see items during the game that were not covered in class, add them to your equipment list and try to figure out what their function might be. Know by next week for lab!
  Review Activity:  Try the Biology Laboratory Equipment Pretest and see how much you know about the lab equipment.  You will need to be able to spell out the name of each piece of equipment.  SPELLING COUNTS!  BUT.... since this is a review, it will not be taken for a grade.  ***You are responsible for know this information even if it is not for a grade! Know by next week for lab!
  HW:  Review the objectives for Ch. 1 and 2.  Use these objectives as guidelines in your notetaking.  
  HW:  Read Ch. 1, pages 1-20.  Pay special attention to pages 11-20.  Learn the terminology used to reference the various areas of the body.  Pay attention to terms in bold print and the main topics being addressed.  ***Make a list of items that need clarification, or questions you might have.  ***Have your notes ready to use on Tuesday!

  Questions and discussion on the reading from Ch. 1.  Be prepared to take a quiz over the body region next class. 9/3
  HW:  Go to the activity, Anatomy-Body RegionsClick on the link to see if you know the names of all the regions of the human body you are shown.  You will need to be able to spell out the name of each body region.  SPELLING COUNTS!  BUT.... since this is a pretest, it will not be taken for a grade.  Use this opportunity to practice for the quiz you will be taking this week.  
  HW:  Do the same thing with Body Orientation  and Martini: Anatomy & Physiology Chapter One  
9/3 Quiz over Ch. 1 Body Systems, Planes, Regions and the Life Processes 9/3
  Mini Water Lab Activity  
9/8 Autopsy of a Pickle Lab  - Conduct the autopsy of your victim and write up the lab report.  Be sure to use the proper terminology to describe the location of all injuries.  Turn your finished lab report into the Head Medical Examiner on 9/10. 9/8
  EXTRA CREDIT - Earn 5 bonus points on your Autopsy Report if you dress up like a doctor, surgeon or nurse!  (Street clothes don't count!)  
  HW:  Read Ch. 2 on Chemistry.  Be ready to move through this chapter quickly!  Learn the terminology used concerning biological molecules.  Pay attention to terms in bold print and the main topics being addressed.  ***Make a list of items that need clarification, or questions you might have.  ***Have your notes ready to use on Tuesday! 9/10
9/10 Turn in your autopsy report.  Don't forget to staple the toe tags to your report!

9/14 Turn in Ch. 2 Coloring Book.  If you turned the CB in on time today, you will receive bonus points.  If you need to turn it in next class, it will be worth the normal point value. 9/16
  Lab: Introduction to Biochemistry - Complete all models, answer questions and have the lab ready to turn in next class. 9/16
9/16 Finish the last macromolecule models by partnering up with the other lab groups.

  HW - Take notes on Ch.3 - Cells & Tissues on Part 1: Cells, and start work on answering the questions for Part 1: Cells found in the Ch. 3 objectives.  
9/30 Explore the world of the cell!  Learn the names and functions of the parts of the cell.  Be ready for a quiz next class! 10/2

  HW:  Ch. 3 Coloring Book pgs. 38-42 up to the section on "Tissue Repair".  Due next class! 10/8
10/8 Finish the rest of the  Ch. 3 Coloring Book and have it ready to turn in next class. 10/14
10/14 More information on tissue types.  
  HW:  Go to Crimando's Histology website and study the different types of tissues.  Use this to prepare for a test on tissues that we will take soon.  
10/16-22 Continue discussion of connective, muscle & nerve tissues.  
  HW:  Go to www.quia.com and work through the reviews that are listed on the Anatomy class page.  Check out these additional websites to view slides of the different tissue types and their associated structures.
